Media Inventory Management: How to set up media (when using media setting & Automatic acquisition of media information)

Media Inventory Management

In this explanation, the method of simultaneously determining the preset settings of the media and the remaining length of the media by the printer reading the media ID mark will be described.

This enables the printer to automatically recognize the appropriate media settings and manage the remaining media length by simply performing the setup, allowing users to view the media list from Roland DG Connect.

* Media Inventory Management supported models: VG3-640/540, SG3-540/300, XP-640, XG-640

1. Set the media in a way that the media ID mark is placed on the cutter protection.

2. Position the media clamp. Always use the media clamp to determine the reading position of the media ID mark.

3. Tap on "Setup".

4. Select "Automatic" from the panel.

5. Choose either "Do Not Use Take-up Unit" or "Use Take-up Unit". If you choose to use the take-up unit for setup, please follow the instructions on the panel to attach the media to the take-up unit.

The printer automatically determines the media length and the preset being used based on the media ID mark, and the setup process begins.

The printer sets presets based on the media ID mark information and automatically recognizes the media width and length, displaying them on the panel.

6.Print  job data from VersaWorks. The media remaining length will be subtracted as printing and paper feeding are performed.

7.When removing the media from the printer, perform sheet cutting from the panel. This will automatically print a media ID mark on the leftover media that recognizes the remaining length of the media, as well as the actual remaining length. Additionally, when printing the media ID mark, the data in Roland DG Connect will be updated.

In addition, it is now possible to select to print/not print a remainder mark when cutting a sheet from the following printer firmware versions.

(VG3,SG3 : Version 3.1 or higher, XP : Version 2.1 or higher, XG : Version 1.5 or higher)

Refer to the following for the settings for printing the remaining media mark when cutting a sheet.
