In this manual, the method of automatically recognizing the remaining length of the media by the printer reading the media ID mark will be described.

This procedure involves manually selecting the media preset configuration and managing the remaining length of the media only.

By doing this, the remaining length of the media will be automatically managed and can be accessed through Roland DG Connect.

* Media Inventory Management supported models: VG3-640/540, SG3-540/300 (Firmware version 2.4 or later)

* Media Inventory Management supported media: Transparent media and other media for which the sensor cannot read the remaining media ID mark are not supported.

1. Set the media in a way that the media ID mark is placed on the cutter protection.

2. Position the media clamp. Always use the media clamp to determine the reading position of the media ID mark.

3. Tap on "Setup".

4. Select "Manual" from the panel.

5. Select the preset to be used from the panel. If you wish to create a new preset, please choose "New".

6. Choose either "Do Not Use Take-up Unit" or "Use Take-up Unit". If you choose to use the take-up unit for setup, please follow the instructions on the panel to attach the media to the take-up unit.

The printer automatically determines the media length based on the media ID mark, and the setup process begins.

The printer automatically recognizes the media width and length based on the media ID mark, displaying them on the panel.

7. Print job data from VersaWorks. The media remaining length will be subtracted as printing and paper feeding are performed.

8. When removing the media from the printer, perform sheet cutting from the panel. This will automatically print a mark on the leftover media that recognizes the remaining length of the media, as well as the actual remaining length. Additionally, when printing the media ID mark, the data in Roland DG Connect will be updated.
